St. John, NB

Hey there you all!! I'm in St. John, with my friend Megan. We went to this amazing breakfast place called "cora's": so if you ever get to go: GO!! Mmm...

Sunday afternoon, when we arrived: the Bustins all go to each other's houses for "Boxing Day", and show each of the families what each person received for Christmas! Craziness!!

yesterday was a lazy day: we watched movies all day! But today we've been out, and we'll be doing some other stuff, getting megs all ready for Peru by the 3rd!! Um, what else. I don't really remember...but that's just a quick update on things. The storm was crazy yesterday: St. John shut down!

Have an awesome New Year's: I know I will!!

UPDATE

Now hey there you all!! I'm here in Calais, 'til the 3rd, then in St.John NB 'til the 3rd or so!! I had some blood drawn this morning....trying to determine the 'cause of my exhaustion. BUT...it's all good. (I do think that I've watched ER too much though:0)

My friend Megan leaves for PERU on the 3rd, to teach there for four months! I'm so excited for her: but I have to sing for her "commissioning service" on the 2nd, and I'm quite undecided on what to sing. That's a lie actually: I know what to sing, but I don't want to do it. Anyways...

I told God that I would dedicate this week (and vacation) to Him: 'cause I needed some good quality time with Him. I hate t.v.: but, I am happy to report I'm learning to become content where I am in my life. I just hope that it continues when I go back to PEI.

I recommend that you all read, "The Screwtape Letters", by C.S. Lewis: as that is what I am reading right now, and we ALL can learn from that book!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

The World of A Christian is Smaller Than You May Think.

Sometimes, we really do just live in a small world:

*Sept.'82--I was born at CRH/ Nov.'82--a Nathanael B. was born at CRH/Sometime '83 (?--oops!) Nathanael's sister Bethany is born. I never knew these people existed
--18 years later: Nathanael gives his testimony at NBBI--says he was born in Calais/(so was his sister!)
--Sister Bethany ends up becoming one of my closest friends in the ENTIRE world

(Does that strike anyone?--It still blows me away!)

*I've worked at Living Waters Bible Conference (in Danforth, ME) for 7 years. And my first summer there: there was a counselor there, with the last name Tattrie, from Charlottetown, PEI. And then he was there 2 summers later. Didn't think much of it. BUT OH WAIT--when I read who I was staying with, low and behold, the last name was "Tattrie"--this very boy's parents! But it doesn't just stop there: there was a boy in the wilderness program at LW , Jon, and I remember how we got stuck playing ping-pong together (I was probably a nervous wreck--playing with that boy, who barely ever spoke a word, while the Lord was probably just laughing at me--which is okay.:0)...never thought much of it...until like 7 years later, at NBBI, when we meet again...and then the fact I ended up doing 4th year at his church! (Which I swear has nothing to do with why I am here...) and the poor guy ended up being my next door neighbor (for 4 mnths) and co-leader (in almost everything!) for 8 months!! But--it doesn't just end there either: his sister, Shira, was my closest friend at LW during summer '01. Also.... I went to Bible school with a guy, Joel--who just so happens to be a fellow tree planter with Jon!! (Who even knows about the tree planting business?!)

*Also, because of LW--I meet a few girls who lived in the St.John area of NB, Canada. That's cool: but I ended up visiting them a few times--and meeting their friends. And then ended up going to Bible school with their friends (not knowing that they were even there!) And one of the guys: Mike--his sisters (they're twins!) ended up becoming a couple of my best friends!. And the other guy: well...his girlfriend happened to live only 20 min. away from me--and we had never met each other: And needless to say, I ended up singing at their wedding!!

*This past summer, down in NEW YORK, there was a girl, Erin B., who I happened to actually have heard of (due to bizarre circumstances), whose father is one of the pastors of the church here in C'Town PEI! How bizarre is all of this, eh?

There is much more that I could write, about a lot of circumstance and people: these are just the few that stand out to me...

So...I don't know if things like this have ever happened to ya'll--but let me know, if ya' do.

Conviction?

So, as I was lying in bed last night, rethinking about "A Christmas Story", I began to feel convicted. And Why, you ask? Because of the swearing in the moive. There are a few "taking the Lord's name in vains". So, my question is: is it BIBLICLY wrong to watch movies like that? Colossians tells us to "whatever we do to the glory of God": does that include this? And you know what scares me the most? Is how one day, the Lord will tell me whether it's wrong or right, for there can only be one true answer: And I'd really like to be right...

A Christmas Story.

So have any of you seen the movie, "A Christmas Story"? About the "genuine red rider bb gun"!! If not, you're missing out on life! It's a classic! You'll have to rent it and watch it! (Or wait for Christmas Eve on TBS, considering they always play it for 24 hours on that station!! Craziness I tell you--pure craziness! And for those that have seen the movie: what's your favorite scene/s?
